Sahiwal is a large city in Sahiwal Divisions in Punjab province of Pakistan. The city has a population of over 270,000 as at the 2012 population census. Sahiwal is located between two rivers, the Sutlej River and the Ravi River. The city was formerly known as Montgomery, until 1996, but it is now the administrative division of Sahiwal District. The city was founded by Lt. Governor of Punjab, Sir Robert Montgomery in 1865.
