Nathiagali / Nathia Gali
Nathiagali or Nathia Gali is a mountain town that was designated as the summer head-quarters of the Chief Commissioner of the Peshawar division during the British Rule. Nathiagali is a part of the Galyat range which is a narrow strip located exactly north-east of the beautiful city of Islamabad.
The people in this town are usually from the Malechas, Karlal and Dhunds tribes. History has it that these people lived a basic and primitive life despite the high altitude in the region.
The natural scenery of Nathiagali makes the beautiful town an attractive tourist destination. For wildlife, the town is home to various species of butterflies, insects, birds, hill Rhesus Monkeys and the near-extinct Hill Leopard that can be found in the forest of the Ayubia National park.
For the more adventurous tourist, take a long trek to ascend to the top of Mukshpuri, which is a 9200 feet elevated mountain. Often regarded as “A Heaven on Earth”, Nathiagali is popular for its cedar, pine, lush green meadows and deep forests of oak.
