Being a part of the division of Dhaka, Kishoreganj attains the urban touch along with the inflow of its aboriginal rural rivers, the Meghna and the Brahmaputra. The place was names Kishoreganj after the landlord Nanda Kishore Pramanik. The district is famous for the traditional rituals that have been observed for years. Among them, the Kurikhai Mela is noteworthy. It is a shrine oriented fair that is held yearly on the last Monday of the Bengali month of Magh.
